Picture Restaurant

To celebrate my boyfriend's excellent results and graduating, a table for four was booked at Picture, a restaurant not too far from Great Portland Street station. Having seen good reviews online and by word of mouth, we decided to opt for the six course tasting menu :)

Menu:
Gazpacho in a double shot glass
Grilled tender stem broccoli, roasted peppers and chickpeas
Pork cheek served with watermelon, BBQ sauce and pickled carrot
Sea bream fillet, courgette, fennel, cavolo nero
28 day aged beef with white onion, beetroot and greens / free range chicken, portobello mushroom, roast carrot and white beans
Chocolate mousse with strawberries and oatmeal biscuit

We also ordered some bread, which was small but crispy and warm and served with a generous amount of butter. Since we booked with bookatable.com, a cocktail was included with our six course menu. We all went for a mocktail instead - a watermelon lemonade which was delicious.
The food was great - especially the beef/chicken dish! The mushrooms were seasoned perfectly and the chicken thigh was so tender. I loved the roasted carrot with the crispy onions on top, just wish there had been more than half of a small carrot! I was wondering if the beans should be mentioned in the menu if only two appear on the plate..

The pickled carrot that came with the tasty pork cheek was too overpowering and we would have preferred that to have not been on the plate.

I enjoyed the chocolate mousse served in a huge plate bowl :) Shame the dessert wasn't as big as the dish it came in!
Overall the food was lovely, but not very filling. The staff were friendly, very helpful and accommodating. I liked that the beef could be swapped for an alternative main. Would recommend if you want a bit of everything and aren't ravenous :)

Thank you Kev and Ka Yan for the lovely dinner :)
